This photo was awarded for best slovenian landscape 2003 at Slovenian competition with theme "landscape" in december 2003.
In fact I took this one about 2 years ago with my old canon Power Shot A20. It was autumn that time...because in spring or summer everything would be green.
and this arhitecture is tipical only for Slovenia! i found few translations for it:corn-rack, drying-frame, drvingrack. Farmes are using them to put hay under them and to let the hay dried.
btw,i can see this field from my balcony...so it take me 2 minutes to this place so called best landscape in Slovenia.
It has been said allready, that the perspective is dynamic, and that indeed seems to be one of the better ways to express what is so magnetic about the shot.
The angle of shooting made a play on the perception of proportions... the distand clouds actually appear to be closer than they are, towering the two woodden constructions. While the parallel structural lines give the viewer a feeling he is being pulled into the scene. What makes this composition so great is the impressive precision, the spacing from frame to frame, and the way all lines recede into that one vanishing point in the very dead center, where yet another one of the drying frames is located.
The time of the day was prefect for shooting with the sun setting slowly and casting those shadows.
But probably the most interesting aspect , is the modernistic and urban feel of a rural landscape.... a very interesting twist to achieve.

...be critical not hypocritical
I love how these odd fences draw the viewer into the landscape.
the only annoyance are the fences in the background if you ask me

' don't let them take your smile away '
it deserves the award
The color in the sky really stands out. And the mountains in the background are awesome.
Great job.
And congrats on the award.
